Going to the track for my first time...

I might go out next friday for the test and tune to tulsa dragway. It will be my first time at a track if i go. Any advice? It's a m6 with spec 1 clutch and 275 street tires on the rear. I'm kind of nervous about it as I don't want to look stupid lol. Any help and advice would be appreciated. I believe the track is around 650 ft above seal level.

Try out all sorts of launch methods. Slipping the clutch2k,3k,4k, etc. a quick 2k dump, just starting normal and than hammering down on it.

let some pressure out of your tires, start and 28psi and work down to 22psi. but you may want to go up to 25psi, it all depends.

Loose the front sway bar, it will help out a ton with weight transfer.

most important thing: go around the water box, do not get water on your tires.

don't try to go like a bat out of hell your first time, just get used to things. work on launching.

the lauch is gonna b the hardest part of it all. My first time up i had to slip the clutch from 2200 and just feather it out. Ull learn a lot just by getting more seat time. I also have 4.10s so its another ball game.

Make sure to stand close to the start line and watch a few cars if you have never gone.haha

Watch where the water box is and if you can drive around it... See if there is room to spin your tires a little just to clean them off. Don't spin them till they smoke. Leave them at 30psi, they we meant to work best at FULL PRESSURE, WARM... not smoking hot.

Watch where the start beams are also.. Don't roll past the beams with your front tires and stage with the rear tires... hehe Remember to put it in FIRST gear before racing...haha

I've seen all of this happen. Roll thru water, stage with back tires, Start in 3rd gear... ouch.

The more the tires spin, the slower the car accelerates...

Most important rule SLOW DOWN AFTER YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE Make sure you know where the other car is in the other lane also, don't cut him off. You have about 1000ft to slow down from 100mph.

Goodluck!

lol, you know whats funny, when I first started going to the track, I would get sooo nervous when doing my first run of the night ( after that I was fine)
well I had just gotten drag radials. I went around the water box, reversed to the concrete to do the burnout, and well I did the burnout but, I forgot to take it out of reverse people must of thought I was crazy doing a burnout in reverse haha

( have a line lock btw, cars not going anywhere)
