Try letting some air out of the tires. Try about 25 psi and go lower if needed. If that don't work find some old rims and get some drag radials or slicks. Nice times though.

You only vary the stock air pressure with street tires by a couple of pounds up or down trying to find the best footprint (contact patch) the tire has to offer. You do not treat them as drag radials or slicks. Skip the water box and just give them a quick spin to clean them off, before pulling up to the line.

Do ZR rated tires act like street tires in a way that the more you burn out the slicker(less traction) they get? My old camaro had ZR rated tires and it hooked pretty good if I dropped the air pressure down to 25 psi and did a decent burnout. If I just cleaned them off I spun out of the hole.

lol, i was too excited to do anything, and i didnt have a pressure tire guage handy. i didnt skip the water box either :O

So, are these times ok w/ 20s w/out radials, using the water patch, not a hooky launch, and i was even told i used my brakes on the first run b4 the complete end of the track...lo

the only think im upset about is i even had my laptop ln the car and didnt log the runs

Am I reading this right? If so when drag racing your peeps are supposed to be standing or sitting on the sidelines watching you run. At your level every 100lbs. of extra weight slows you down about 1 tenth and 1 mph. So ditch the pals and the extra junk in the trunk and run 13s.

Stop leaving on the green, go when the last yellow lights and you'll get better reaction times.
Roll into the throttle rather than stomping it with the 20's on.

Not everything is written in stone. I'm sure there are exceptions. Were the tires on the correct size wheels? I could see that helping if the tire was to big for the wheel. Don't forget, your going to gain a almost two pounds of air after a good burnout, at least I do.

Buy drag radials, lose the buddy, lose the junk in the trunk. Then run a 13, from what I read I got the feeling that you care about looks and racing equally so I will not say you should get a smaller wheels, but it would help you.

They were on my TT2s 17x9.5 wrapped in ventus k104 sport tires. They were the right size(can't remember sold the car). Now I run 10.5 slicks on my firebird so not trouble hooking

I just happened to be in the town that had a drag strip that was open that day i was there for the week before i had to come home to work again. I wasnt going to yank everything out of the trunk n stuff just for it, i didnt care about winning or loosing (altho i won all 3 times i went down it) it was just for the hell of it and fun.

Plus it will be a good year or so untill i get there again, if not longer. 7 Hr drive :P

get those two people out af the car and tell them to take those subs with'em. Your times are bad, loss the extra weight and i bet you would see another .5 off your time.

With a little practice and less weight you could hit 13's.
