drag radials and 60 ft times
 

It's a toss up for me right now. I'm looking at either getting Nittos or getting another set of BFGs. What kind of 60 times are you guys cutting on Nittos? It looks like I am going to be in the 1.8-1.9 range. I am looking for a consistent hook everytime ad the BFGs have been doing wel so far. I'm just tired of flinging every rock on the road into my quarter panel.

DRs: MT ET Street Radials. There is NO substitute.

Iv'e cut a 1.75 on my Nittos with no track prep. But now that I layed out the bucks for some Bogarts I'm going with everyones favorite, MTs street radial. Any sticky tire is going to throw rocks by the way. My wifes Envoy has a chipped windshield, from my daughter following to close behind my car after we left the track one day. :(

There are many substitutes. MTs are just the most popular which soesn't mean that they wirk the best. Hoosier just came out with a drag radial, M&H has one. Word is that the Hoosiers blow the MTs away for hook & consistancy. I'll report back later on that;) I'm trying them this year.

Mostly drag?? MTs, Hoosiers, M&H
Mostly street?? Nittos

Nittos will hook on a good track with proper suspension set up and burn out and they will last for around 15,000 miles on the street.

The other stickier DRs will stick better even on marginal tracks and some aren't technically street legal even though they have a DOT number and will only last 4-6000 miles at best.

Mostly street use but I'll be at the track twice a month. MT's are out of the question. If I were going for a full on race tire then sure, but I'm not going to run those on the street. I'm not a total rookie here, I know they are an awesome radial that can handle some real power. To run those on the street for a somewhat daily driver is a waste IMO.

I'm trying to decide on a tire that I can run everyday and not worry about changing wheels when I go to the track. BFG's have worked for me in the past, but I was asking what a nitto could handle. I haven't seen first hand anybody push them to their limit.

The suspension is stock with LCA's and relo brackets. Other mods are intake, full exhaust, LS6 manifold and gears.

I understand that they will throw some rocks, but I am hoping a little less than my BFGs. It seems like every pebble in the road peppers my car.

1.85 on 275/40/17 Nittos
Bolt on TPI car with maybe 300lb-ft/225hp @ the wheels. Dead hook everytime.

1.80 on 315/35/17 Nittos @ 400lb-ft/300hp @ the wheels. Very inconsistant. Adding a 50 shot on top of this made 1st gear useless. Went to ET Streets.

You can buy a pair of salad shooters for dirt cheap, and throw on a set of whatever DR's you want. IMO, it's just like having all-season tires vs. dedicated summer/winter tires. The compromise tire (in your case) will be less than ideal for both street and strip.

WIth the BFG's, I was able to cut a quite a few 1.6's 60's on 17in rims the tires were 275's. So for daily driving and wanting to cut a good 60' then BFG's are the way to go. Nitto hasnt made anything I've liked in a while other than some of their meaty truck tires. The M/t et streets are pretty much slicks and not safe to drive on the road. I just used those this weekend on my 15in bogarts and they hooked just as good as my slicks.
