Do Skinnies make any kinda of a difference?
Do Skinnies make any kinda of a difference?
I wanted to know if there would be any gains at the 1/4 track from changing my 17Ss rims in the front to Skinnies. If so, what kinda of gain am I looking at a tenth or not even.
I heard/read that 100# lighter will give you about ~ a tenths
and so will every 10 HP.
Just curious..

Lighter weight ( off the front which is extra good), and less rolling resistance. Also, I went for a 28" tall front tire as well to increase the rollout.
It is difficult to quantify the actual amount of improvement because I changed all four rims at the same time.

Thanks for the response
Has anyone slap skinnies on there cars and noticed a specific drop in ET or gain in MPH from thier old set up?
Again, I am just curious to see how much they do help.
Thx,
Claude

Same results here almost 2 tenths.....you are not only losing weight were you need to for transfer, you are as stated above reducing rolling resistance...I gained about the same from my TT's to Centerline warriors and weld draglites
ESPECIALLY weight that rotates and contacts the ground, is the best weight to lose. It is worth several more time than taking out static weight. Remember... one of the first things after the drive train to start movin are the wheels. Making them lighter makes 'em move quicker!
Light wheels and tires... ALWAYS a good investment. If you can afford it run DRAG front tires and not radials, they are lighter yet, but like 3 times the cost!
