BFG or Nitto, track only, and how to launch without breaking the rear.
BFG or Nitto, track only, and how to launch without breaking the rear.
I got a couple salad shooters to throw some DR's on for the track, now I still have the stock gears which are supposed to take more abuse correct? My question is which tires should I go with, I'm not gonna do a burn out with them, I'm not gonna try and do 3k+ dumps, I have a spec stage 3 and dont wanna blow the rear, mainly I just want them for after I get off the line so I dont spin when I do punch it. The tires I have now break loose any time I punch it in first. Thanks for the patience and responses.
Re: BFG or Nitto, track only, and how to launch without breaking the rear.
M/T has a new E.T. Street radial for you. It's definately the best of the drag radials.... As far as track use goes dont bother with the Nitto's. BFG's are good, the M/T's are better
Re: BFG or Nitto, track only, and how to launch without breaking the rear.
Ok, well i dont need the best hooking, but better than street tires, what about price? How much are the M/T's compared to everything else? And would it be bad to drive on them to the track? It's like 65 miles from my house. Also wont the better traction hurt my rear even more? Will the 3.42's give me a better chance of keeping the rear longer?
Re: BFG or Nitto, track only, and how to launch without breaking the rear.
The M/T's are about $15 per tire more... but they do last longer than BFG's. As far as driving on the street with them... if it's raining or wet you'll need to be extra careful with any drag radial, but otherwise you should be fine. If you've been running with the 20's on there any tire on the salad shooters will probably help you out quite a bit.
You said youre not doing 3K dumps & no burnouts, i.e. not really abusing your stuff, so personally I wouldn't expect any problems unless the rear is already damaged for some reason

Re: BFG or Nitto, track only, and how to launch without breaking the rear.
well, i wouldn't get a slick if i were u. if u want to keep that rear-end intact since u have a six speed i would stick with the street tires of buy the bfg's.
i am running the nitto's right now, but i drive alot. i need something that will hook decent and last, so thats why i chose the nitto's.

I paid $312 to the door for my ET Street radials (255/50/16). They're soofffffffftttttt and real nice looking. Couldnt pass up the price. http://www.stang.cc/tmcaalbums/Spinner/mickeys.jpg

OK no 20's... thats a good start for sure
Not those ET Street's... forget about those for a minute... check out the link below... much more on par with the BFG's than what youre thinking of

How long do the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Drag Tires last?
and do they hook up better than the BFG's and the NITTOS

Re: BFG or Nitto, track only, and how to launch without breaking the rear.
That question can best be answered by how you drive. Long burnouts, lots of street use will quickly decrease the lifespan. Used as a track only tire with reasonable burnouts my regular ET Streets will last a whole season, 16 points races, a couple of specialty events, and the bracket finals. Et Street radials have the same compound. I bet I could get the same wear out of them. Bear in mind I also run two classes and usually go rounds at each event so:
4 time trials x 16 =64
Probably six rounds at each event: 6 x 16 = 96
Specialty events= 30 rounds
So I figure about 190 passes.

so, do these last shorter than the nittos.. because i'm looking to not drive them everyday, but still use them on the street sometimes..
what do u recommend for the best traction.
3.73's and 2800 stall...
Nittos, BFG, or the new Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Drag Tires?
