I beat this guy, but its not like it was by alot. im starting to be discusted with my car, it only runs like 98-99 in the quarter. this guy killed me on the launch (both have Manuals), and then i played catch-up and won by about a car. Is that typical? I think my car should be running like @ 100-105 in the 1/4, so what the hell is the problem with this car. And no i dont think it is operator error, ive had the car a year, and i consider myself to be a great shifter.

Whats the elevation at your track?

HA! its not at the track. There isnt a track within like 300 miles of here. we do it on a measured piece of a highway that barely gets used, we live in the middle of nowhere, and i forgot the elevation, i know it is the lowest in colorado.

Go to the track and get some real times and mph, some real weather conditions, and we will be far more able to offer intelligent advice.

The way you're trying to "measure" your performance is useless. When you have some real track #'s we can help you.

I had a brain cramp. I didn't catch the fact that this is done on the street. Without knowing accurate times for 60ft, 1/8 and 1/4 mile and their respective trap speeds it is hard to give good info. So my last posting for DA correction can be disregarded.:cool:

I dont want to bash anyone, but i think actual drag tracks are stupid. They are all about consistancy and all of that stupid crap. To me a drag race could be a quarter mile, could be three miles, but to me the winner is the person that crosses the finish line first, not the guy that did it in the same amount of time he did the last time he ran it. That just seems like something for the birds to me.

That is your opinion. But the fixed timing insturments at teh track will do a far better job of evaluating your car's performance, and why it does or doesnt perform, than a stretch of lonely road:)

You're connecting bracket racing with drag racing. Not all drag racing is bracket racing. Believe it or not, you have to be consistent and have some skills to maximize your potential.

If it was easy and took no skill, everyone would be fast. Thank goodness some people suck at driving :).

I agree that a person has to be consistant to be a good driver, but i dont think that should be the determining factor on who wins a race, like in the bracket racing or whatever it is. Yeah, i agree that a track has all the measuring stuff on it and whatever, but it isnt that easy for me, i dont live like 20 miles from one, i think there might be one in denver and that is 300 miles away.

Do you think that driver skill shouldn't play apart in a race at all?

If that was the case, racing would be (even more so than it already is) a test of who has more money to spend. That wouldn't be very competitive or fun.

Hi, youre right, i belong over in the Smart Ass Forum with you talking about drag racing instead of the "Drag Racing Forum". My bad :rolleyes: . Im sorry, i didnt see in your SIG that you have donned the title GOD. Anyway, yeah, of course driver ability plays a large role, i think it is a VERY large role. But i could be driving a crap pinto and be a super driver and not win, see. look how stupid the consistancy thing sounds in my point of view. one guy says to another after a race: "i beat you, i got to the finish line first", second guy says "yeah, but im more consistant with my driving." My point is who gives a damn if hes more consistant. the other car beat him to the finish line.

Yeah, that's fairly normal due to the power curve of the respective engines. Stock for stock, an LT1 and LS1 only have a 10 tq difference, but the LT1 has all it's torque available at 2400 rpm, and the ls1 at 4000 rpm. LT1 has the down low grunt, LS1 has the up high flyin'.
