anyone ever brake a trans bellhousing before (A4) while launching?

here's my situation.

last year, I got the car to the track and was running 1.8x sixty foots (maybe 5 pass's) till the trans bellhousing cracked almost all the way across from the pass. side to the drivers side. that was w/my old setup goin low 13s w/a 10" 3500 stall conv.

after that, I got another trans from a buddy wich came w/a 12" diam. 2800 stall speed conv. I drove around like that for about 3K mi.s and maybe 20 pass. best sixty being mid 1.9s. no prob., so I decided to reinstall my 3500 stall to see what it would do cause I know its far better suited for my combo.

back at the track w/the 3500 stall and the newer eng. setup now running mid 12's. it hooks hard and pulls like a mofo, then breaks the bellhousing again sometime after/during the sixty foot. same thing as last year w/this convertor. now, about the car.

it is a 86 Iroc that I have setup for drag cheap style. removed alot of weight from the front end incl. the front sway bar, the car has ttops, no subframe conn.s, no rollcage, no after market suspension yet exc. panhard bar, has batt. in trunk, 3:73 gears and ET streets w/skinnys up front. the car launches soo hard w/the 3500 stall that the qrtr panel lips contact the sidewall of the tires so I know i need rear shocks/airbags.

anyone else makeing this kind of power and dont have subframe cnn.s or cage?

would a 8point cage do more for rigity then spohn subframe conn.s?

can chassis flex really break the trans in half like that?

any ideas/comments would be appreciated. thanks
chris
