A4 guys how do you drag?

do you hold the brake and torque it up a little (not breaking the tires loose tho), or do you just jam it from idle, or do you kinda ease into it and then jam it? i have tried all of these techniques but seeing as how ive never been to the track i really dont know what works best, so any pointers would help? it seems like everytime i torque it up and preload the rear i get a little better jump off the line, but most of the time i end up spinnin em and gettin a little sideways action, but when i go from idle it seems a little slower off the line, but doesnt spin em. what works best for you guys.

also does racing in drive or overdrive make any difference (most of the time i go from drive)?

i leave mine in drive. I run a sticky tire,so i usually stall it up,then mash it.

Every car is different,it takes practice to feel out what your combo wants.

Doesn't matter if it's in D or OD, if you're at WOT it isn't going to shift into OD anyways. I usually stall it up a little, then roll into the throttle. It's definitely a dance you have to learn.

with the stock converter/gears and steet tires at the track i have enough traction to just nail it/flash the converter.

yea i was thinkin the same thing, especially with a 2.73 rear, me and traction should be best friends, but more than likely my problems are coming from the tires and their lack of meat !

Maybe if you trap high enough to get all the way through 3rd gear, but those of us with bolt-on cars aren't trapping 120 or anything. Maybe if you have 3.73s or something...
