9's is pretty quick....

While my car is doing it's own thing I have been racing my dad's 71 Nova. It is a mis-match combo, but you do what you can with what you have. If he had a big set of heads and all the parts to go with it, it would scream.

Anyways, on Hoosier Quicktime Pros DOT tires and with the exhaust to the axles, blinkers, lights, etc work, I ran it last night and here are the results:

DA was 1800'

60' - 1.5532 (best 60' tonight was a 1.5081 on motor with 11 degrees taken out)
330' - 4.1452
594' - 5.9211
660' - 6.3191@113.07
1000' - 8.1582
1320' - 9.7632@142.87

I believe the car has some low 1.4's and there are some other gremlins to resolve. Play with the tire pressure some, get a two-step so I can start using the t-brake, fine tune the car and I can see some 9.3's-9.4's in the Fall.

Here is a slower run and I had some nitrous wiring issues that showed up later.

I went out again to see what it would run after fixing some issues...also tried the two-step and the t-brake and it slowed down 60' wise (but did cut a nice wheelie) but ran a better ET/MPH....have some more testing to do with the t-brake.

Best pass was the following:

DA was 2400' leaving at 1800 rpm.

60' - 1.5040 (pass before was 1.47)
330' - 4.0629
594' - 5.8177
660' - 6.2127@113.91
1320' - 9.6378@142.92

Then last week after the 9.6 pass I tuned my dad's Nova on my bud's Dynojet...Changes to the car was going from a 950 cfm carb to a 1250 cfm. After getting the AFR worked out and timing, the car picked up 21 rwhp from the last time and picked up a useable 600 rpm.(also not into consideration is prior dyno numbers were with hard sidewall street tires and not Quicktime Pro's)

Then we sprayed the 250 nitrous and the car made exactly 100 rwhp and was was rich off the scale. I put in the biggest jet on the nitrous side I could find and it jumped to 170 rwhp and was still 10.5:1 AFR....and I was pulling out 11 degrees of timing for only 170 rwhp. The reason for this is the n20 solenoid is failing...he is fixing this and then we will get into the 400 shot...

Power was 541 rwhp @ 7300 rpm & 555 rwtq @ 4600 rpm on motor.

Power was 708 rwhp @ 7500 rpm & 602 rwtq @ 5800 rpm on nitrous. (torque would have been more but the dyno started picking up @ 5800...I figure around 800 rwtq @ 3000 rpm)

So with the weather getting better and better and add roughly 90 rwhp more...should be interesting next time out...and once we get the n2o kit working correctly, I would like to see 900 rwhp thru a TH-400, loose converter, Dana 60 and Quicktimes.

Thought I would share the progress on my dad's car.
