Is VIN an issue with OBDII in this case??

My car was previously an A4 and is now an M6. I was able to get a stock M6 program off of a board member to use and as expected his VIN is different than mine...is this an issue? If so how do I go about this? Just change the VIN in the initial pop up screen of the program?

Find the VIN in the LT1 Edit file, since the computer is not different the VIN will not change, you just need to edit the VIN in the file. I am not aware of a VINchange program for OBD II.

Really:( What should I do than...

That was what you were supposed to do :D Search for the VIN in the file with your favorite Hex editor. If you send me your VIN and the OBD II file of yours I can try to find it. Just shoot me an email.

Does your LT1 Edit for OBD II have a checksum calculator?

Have you simply tried emailing Ken? They made the protection more complex with OBD II edit than the original, so it could even be locked down to the transmission type as an additional redundancy, I dont know.

He should be able to tell you, and even offer to change it for you or send you a base M6 file that he has, along with the change.

If your not on the Edit list maybe you should hop on there. :)

Talked to someone else about it, he says the program looks at the VIN but not the FLASHER, in which case if this is true, flash the file to your PCM (if you are sure the byte size is correct!), and then download after your upload so you can now play with your new M6 file, with correct VIN.

This being, since we cannot change the actual VIN in our computers on our own.
