TunerCat Trans Control

I down loaded a demo version of TunerCat
to play with to get the feel of things and read
posts on here about what people doing with it
so I could follow alone and get the hang of things.

I see the TCC tables I’m assuming this is Torque
Converter Control tables?

I was told by a people that I could control shift points
and line pressure but I’m not seeing those tables in the demo version.

Thanks for your time
Chris

We have a computer diagnostics and programming forum - that's where this belongs. I'll move it for you.

Thanks, I have a OBD thread in here that needs moving a well.

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

I think the TC demo program was for an older TBI non-electric truck engine or something like that. You did not give your car year and model, but if you have a electric controlled tranny then the TC definition file for your car will have the transmission shift and line pressure tables.

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

Sorry about the lack of info.
96 T/A.
Switching over to OBD1
The car is bone stock with cats stock exhaust, everything is in tacked, a survivor.

My plane is to do the OBD1 swap and get the car to run and drive like it does
now and put a 4l80E in it and work the bugs out of that and move to the motor mods.

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

Could some one send me a OBD1 LT1 A4 tune to play with until I get mine running?

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

I believe your '96 has a 4L60E with the TCC PWM solenoid, therefore when you convert to OBD1 it's best to install a '95 .bin file to support the PWM solenoid. The '94 4L60E does not have PWM therefore the code does not support it. I have a '95 stock .bin off the internet that I can NOT verify. It would be best to get one from someone who has a known working version. If you just want to play with one to see what it looks like , PM me with a valid email address and I'll send you what I have..I can also send you a good (from my car) '94stock .bin when it had the 2.73 rear.

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

If the 94 didn't have a TCC PWM and the 95 did will 94 file not have the option to tune the PWM and 95 will?

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

If you run '94 code on a 4L60E with PWM solenoid installed it will not send the commands to the PWM. I do not have '95 code so I can not answer your question. I do not know if there is any table in the '95 code to control the Pulse With Modulation solenoid, however there s/b a table to control Torque Converter Clutch lockup speed in each gear Vs TPS. Got your PM files sent....

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

You need to buy the correct definition file for your PCM...
you're using ECM_42 which is for CK trucks; you need PCM_EE.

Ok makes since.
This is the demo version of TC.
Maybe I down loaded the wrong one.

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

This is a copy and paste from the TC site.

The $42 ECM Definition file is supplied with the evaluation download and is included with the Tuner and RT Tuner program registration. All other ECM Definition Files must be purchased separately.

I'm not plugged into a PCM, I'm just playing with it trying to get familiar
with it first.

Re: TunerCat Trans Control

TT350, to clarify you need to purchase $19.95 $EE definition file from TunerCat in order to decode the .bin files into a logical display. The .bin file is just a block of binary data and you need the correct definition file for a specific model and year to decode the .bin file so TC "Tuner" program can work with it. The definition files are licensed and therefore I can not send you a copy. You can download from TC, give them a credit card to charge against and they will send you the key to unzip the file. The definition file is then good forever, however your free TC "Tuner" program will expire in 30 days and you will then need $69.00 to license the Tuner program. Compared to other mods I guess $90.00 is not to bad considering what you can do with it.
