Programming new gears

So Im still getting info on my gears called a couple local guys and half of them said i dont need to get the computer redone. The other half said i have to get it redone. Now Im even more confused.

The PCM needs to be reprogrammed with the new gear parameters. Simple, but it needs to be done.

Make? Model? Year?

Injuneer 06-16-2010 09:43 PM

Yep.... depends on the year of the vehicle. Without providing basic info about your car, no one can accurately answer your question. Why not add a "signature" with the basic info required - year, model, engine, trans and major modifications, if any?

Assuming its an LT1 camaro... yes you need to rescale the shift points.
Shifts are commanded at RPM vs. MPH, if you regear you change the correlation between the two.

My car is 1993 camaro z28 LT1 m6

jasonface 06-17-2010 04:41 AM

The answer is YES!

Injuneer 06-17-2010 05:17 AM

The 93 speedo is adjusted with gears for the VSS. The 93 4L60 is not controlled by the computer.

Without basic info like the year, etc. the chances of getting the correct answer are greatly reduced. None of the info above is correct.

Thanks for the help

I will admit to pwnage from Fred, yet again
 to injuneer

I really thought the speedo was comp controlled like my '95. Learn something new every day

The ECM does not contain transmission parameters. The PCM does. As Injuneer stated, updating the signature would help greatly. Hint, hint.
