Pretty sure I cooked the ECM - TunerCats

connected, downloaded the ECM just fine.

saved the download so I had a current 'stock' copy.

opened new calibration file.

chose program ECM, saw it Erasing Flash, then this error. (see attached)

now when I cycle power, the fans come on and stay on until I turn the key off...

So, someone tell me I've cooked it so I can start hunting for a new one... OR if there is a slight possibility I can resurrect this... please please please tell me.

If anyone here knows what to do, I suspect it's GaryDoug. If he doesn't see this, maybe shoot him a PM.

I am not very familiar with programming the pcm. I have done this a total of TWO times only just to see how it was done. So I can't really offer expert help.
That being said, I would download WinFlash (if that is not what your are using already) and see if it can read the pcm.

As far as I know, if the pcm is "bricked", there are only two options: 1) Buy another pcm or 2) get someone to "unbrick it" by replacing the soldered-in memory chips inside. Either way is probably at least $100. And no, I don't know who to recommend.

If you are good with electronics repair this may be of interest.

How to fix the PCM Flash Memory

LT1 ECM 16188051 repair source?

As I understand it, you would need

1) the programmer ( a TL866A at $50 should work)

2) two memory chips and sockets (about $10) , and

3) some fine-pitch soldering and un-soldering skills.

Re: Pretty sure I cooked the ECM - TunerCats

Thank you both.

I've went ahead an bought I new PCM from another member that already has the sockets installed... I'm now looking for more chips in the event I do this once again.

Thank you both for the assistance... I guess another week of waiting to hear what this sounds like is what is required...
