PCM tune to enable lock up with a high stall converter?

On my '97 Z28 I have a rebuilt CPT "Race" transmission with a Vig 3200 stall i got from thunder:
http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...3&sid=297#P878
Its part number "19-VIGILANTE" the first one on the list. The car has an OBD1 conversion on it, and the factory 3.23 gear ratio. The reason for this post is i dont think my TC is locking up like it should. In order to maintain a cruising speed of 60 mph the cars RPM's are pretty high up there. We are talking 2400-2500 RPMs with the cruise control on a straight road. With CC off it seems to be around 2700-2800. Now ive been told that this is because my PCM has not been programmed for a 3200 stall. Ive always thought that the stall speed was mechanical and had nothing to do with the PCM. But then again im no car guru. So any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

On obd1 cars you need to get the computer tuned for anything over 2800 stall or you will have what is called stall wall. I dont know for sure if this may be the cause of your lock up or not but it may be a thought.

This isn't the same thing. He's talking about regular lockup at cruising speeds. stall wall is when stomp on it and the comp can't deal with it and causes the trans to shift wrong.

The computer does control when the stall locks up and under what conditions, some of that may need to be adjusted if you are having problems. I'm not sure why just that would be affected by a different stall speed, but OBD1 does have some oddities with higher stalls.

The OBD1 has five PCM tables that control TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) engage and five more that control the TCC release. They look at TPS%, transmission gear and speed. The five tables are Normal, Cruise, Hot, Performance (Firebird T/A, custom mod on the Z28) and Manual modes. As you have RPM variations in 4th gear between Normal and Cruise it could be your tables don't match at the same TPS% and speed.

Thank you i have no idea what you are talking about but thats probably good cause its obviously a problem i know nothing about..
I called PCM 4 Less and talked to Brian and then called PI and talked to them i have to check a few things on the trans and if those check out then im sending the TC to PI to have it looked at. If thats good then ill have the PCM sent into PCM for less. Thanks guys
