Looks like it will also do the V6 cars as well.

I wonder why they leave the OBD-II LT1s out in the cold.

96TurboTA 01-27-2004 03:37 PM

that's what I was wondering too. At least the v6 guys have something now.

You notice that you can't buy anything yet. I am trying to get additional information to who these guys are.

GetaZforgetGT 01-28-2004 11:21 AM

After looking at the prices listed, I have to say I'm a little disappointed.

I remember a few months back someone said that there was finally going to be a cheaper alternative to LS1 edit.

Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of work goes into designing this software and I'm not saying the application isn't worth the cash but I really wish there was a low cost alternative.

I don't even have an LS1, just wish my friends with LS1s had a resonable alternative to LS1 edit.

What about the fact that this particular product combines the tuning capabilities of LS1Edit with the diagnostic logging capabilities of Autotap into one package, for less than the two seperately.

tjwong 01-30-2004 12:20 AM

Plus this new tuning software is not locked to one car. So that means that you can tune as many cars that you want as long as you software supports that car type.

That is a good point....I always forget that you LS1 guys don't have free scanning software like us LT1 guy do in FreeScan.

Yeah that is a good feature.

As I said above, I honestly do think this is a good value for the amount of features it comes with. After considering the scanning feature and the ability to program many different vehicles it doesn't seem bad at all.
I'm just used to the prices for LT1 programming.

LT1_edit for the 96-97 cars is $500

And for that price, it only works with one VIN. So 500 bucks to be able to tune say any 99 ls1 camaro, is worth the money.

im not sure you understand you can only tune one car and thats it. not 2, just the car you first hook it up to. after that its locked to that one pcm.

This is on their site.

Each vehicle type you purchase will allow you to reprogram ANY NUMBER of vehicles of that model and year. You are only "locked" to the model/years that you purchase.
That is at the top of the order page.

And in their Forum titled, "Pricing Info" The administrator named Mangnus had this to say.

Purchasing the 2000 F-body ls1 package allows you to program ALL 2000 LS1 f-bodies.. no limit to the #..
So this info concludes that if I were to purchase their VCM Suite Standard package and purchase one vehicle type of 2000 Camaro/Firebird LS1 V8, I would be able to do tunning on my 2000 LS1 camaro and my freinds 2000 LS1 camaro, and just about anyone else with a 2000 LS1 camaro. But I would not be able to do 98,99,01,02,03,04. Also with that package you can add another vehicle type of any year and model that they offer for an aditional $400 bucks. So for $900 I can do programming on ANY 2000 LS1 Camaro/Firebird and ANY other YEAR/MODEL I choose. Hell when it is available for purchase I am buying it. Well that is ofcourse they have some form of trial software to test first :D .

And in comparison to LS1 Edit, if you only want to reprogram say 99/00 Camaro/Firebird, it is $3500 for the unlimited VIN version, and that only does 99/00. So for $900 I can purchace VCM and do 99/00 Camaro/Firebird. But the best part about it is, I can add more cars and years to the pakage, for $400. LS1 edit is CRAZY expensive compared to that if you want to add more years. And it still only does Camaro/Firbird and trucks.

Plus I guess one of the biggest things to look at here, is VCM gives all of the V6 guys a programming option. We have had a 98 Grand Prix GTP in our family since it was new, now their is an option for me to do custom tunning for that car at a resonable price.

I guess the bottom line here is I am saying good for HP Tuners LLC. It is about time someone else got into the custom tunning software game, and put a stop to the monopoly.

You are wrong.. you cant add licenses to the standard.. just the pro...

Magnus 01-31-2004 10:47 PM

Hello,

You can add 1 license to the standard package to have a total of 2 vehicel types supported for an additional cost of $399 over the initial $499 price. If you wish to have 3 vehicle types supported you must upgrade to the pro version.

Per our orders page:
VCM Suite Standard
1 Vehicle Type: $499
2 Vehicle Types: $899
VCM Suite Pro
3 Vehicle Types: $2999

Thank you for the interest! :)

Guess I should have clarified...I use TunerCat and FreeScan on a '95.

96 and up can not be tuned with TunerCat.
