Moding aftermarket TB to get equal left/right BLMs
Anyone know of any links/or info to show what is needed to make these after market TBs moded to allow idle air flow in the idle air passages when the TB blade is closed?
Without this most stroker engines do not seem to get equal left/right blms I have a BBK/Edlebrock 58mm TB. |

I am borrowing a scan tool this weekend and hope to follow his instructions. I have an OEM bored out 52 mm TB, so I propably don't have the problem he talks about fixing mechanically. Bob Bishop |
What are your BLMs btw? I'm seeing r- 154-160/124-128 - l at idle and partial throttle.

My BLMs are usually about Maybe 2-6 split at partial throttle.
At idle they are about the same but if my exhuast gaskets start to leak they get really wide split in the 140-160 range. I want to have them almost deadon. |

The header collector was leaking.
I have SLP shorties on my T/A and the donuts go on me every 6-9 months. Quite a pain actually. You can usually tell when there is an exgaust leak before the O2s when the engine runs leaner. At least that is what I was seeing. It would be a good idea to check for leaks in you have a split BLM. |
While I dont imagine the collector gaskets would have any effect on my O2 readings (since the O2 bungs are welded in 5" ahead of them), the header primary seal might...pretty sure i've got a loose bolt there. After installing the new collector gasket and quieting that part down, now I'm hearing a small leak at idle right behind the alternator. Will have to check it out.
I plan on scanning the car this weekend and tuning it a little more lean (than stock) where necessary. |
On my SLP headers, one side has a donut gasket before the O2 sensor and the other side has it after...
