Help with datalogs

2001 S10
1995 LT1 LE2 Heads, cam, intake
BBK 58MM
1.75 LT's
Stock f-body MAF
43.5 psi fuel no vacuum
42# TrickFlow injectoors

Motor was running good last fall until I burnt a couple of plug wires, so I finally got around to fixing them a couple of weeks ago (wires and new Autolite 104's) and it was still running like it was on 6 cylinders. It wouldn't hardly rev up, it was backfiring, the passenger side header was glowing at idle, smells rich, black smoke. log4.xdl is the first log where I noticed it wouldn't go into closed loop because the right O2 sensor is not ready. I swapped the Bosch sensors and nothing changed, so I put new Denso sensors in with no change as well. They both get 12V, ground is good. I ground the two middle wires to the black one and they both read 4.44V by the PCM.

I had a spare PCM tuned by PCMforless as well for this setup, so I swapped it in. It runs better and is able to be moved and driven, but it is still not right. Low on power, rich, glowing header and still only open loop, but both O2 sensors are reading a constant 448 without changing in the log (NEWPCM.xdl)

Lastly TESTRUN.xdl is a drive out the road and back with the same outcome.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I amtrying to learn more about these logs and I don't know where to turn to now.

Re: Help with datalogs

What system produces the .xdl files? I've been reviewing data logs for people for about 15 years, and never saw that format, don't know how to open it. Tried MS Word, which is supposed to open it, but results were unintelligible. The second link does not produce any results, says I have to repair a file. Then it tries to load an .exe file, which I will not accept.

Please clarify.

The constant 448mV O2 sensor reading indicate an open circuit, or a damaged sensing element. The PCM supplies the 450mV bias to the sensing element.

12V should only be supplied to one side of the O2 sensor heater circuit. What wires are "the two middle wires" that you apparently connected to a ground wire? The ground for the heating element and the ground (low reference) for the sensing element should not be connected together.

I used tunerpro. This is all that I have.

I read on here somewhere that if you take small jumper wires to the vehicle connector for the O2 sensor and connect all the wires together except the 12v wire and the log showed low voltage, that meant that there wasn't an open circuit and the vehicle wiring was fine. I took two little jumper wires and connected them and that is when I got around 4.4 volts. I also pulled the wire loom off all the way back to the main section of the harness and all of the wires looked good.

Maybe someone else who uses Tunerpro can help you.

Re: Help with datalogs

Sorry about all of this guys. I am new to all of this and I will keep trying.

I downloaded datamaster and just did a couple of logs to see if you can see them this time. log8 is before I cleared the DTC33 MAP sensor high pressure, and log9 is after. They are quick and hopefully I can do a better one tomorrow after work.

Let me know if this helps..

Re: Help with datalogs

Well quick update. I did another log at idle to warm it up before I drove it and I noticed that both O2's were staying constant 453mV. Earlier in my journey the left side was functioning and the right wasn't moving, now both aren't moving. I decided to switch the pcm back to the old one that showed the left working fine.

It ran really bad. Missing, backfiring and wouldn't rev up at all and then finally just quit and wouldn't start. I found that I blew the ecm fuse and now they are blowing every time I turn the key on with both PCM's.

I don't see any exposed wires, so I will start peeling back the loom and see what it looks like.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

OK, so here is an upfdate.

Problem 1: Keep blowing ECM fuse every time I turn on the ignition
Solution: Tach signal convertor power wire frayed and touched ground.

Problem 2: O2 sensor on left side not reading correctly or at all.
Solution: O2 harness extension wiring flipped from one end to the next. ABCD=DCBA Switched them around and everything reads correctly with new Denso sensors installed.

Was able to log into closed loop for the first time today.

BADPCM log is with the current computer I was running when everything started missing, backfiring and losing power. Still does it.

GOODPCM is an old PCM that is tuned for mostly the same setup but for only 30# red top SVO injectors.

RUN1 is with the "GOODPCM" I am calling for now. Everything seemed to idle fine and would even rev up fine when the other"BADPCM" wouldn't let me rev it up.

Everything was good until I put a load on the engine. I let out on the clutch and lose power. It would limp out the road almost a mile and then shortly after closed loop and full temp, it just started popping, missing and just running terrible. I had to just peddle it home in 1st gear and barely made it home.

Let me know if anyone wants to take a look at the logs and see if there is anything obvious, but I have a feeling I need to start digging into the ignition system. Opinions and ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
