my plan is to drill the intake and run msd rear dist. with the mallory 685 and coil. i will then run a MSI with MS extra firmware. that gets rid of the opti, while still being able to retard while under boost. total cost for me would be in the 400 range. but i have the coil and mallory box

Running a dual synch to get the singal to the MSI and then back for timing?

Well, the MSII and MS Stimulator are on their way to me. Printing out the manual and FAQ to read in the meantime. I have a 96 with the CPS so I'll see what I can get going with on that or the Low Resolution signal from the Opti. I'm currently using the LS1 coils with the LTCC box.

not going to use the MS for timming. i might change my mind later, but i have a hard enough time figuring out the fuel side.

Any of you running the MS off of the low res/hi res or crank position sensor? If so, of which wires are you feeding the MS?

OIC, stock pcm for timing?

not going to have the stock pcm. running the msd rear dist. (magnetic pickup) with ignition box and coil . i would switch over to a carb, but i like the LCDash to much, and it saves money on gauges. all around it is cheaper to go that route then going carb.

So do you think it is possible to share the computers and use the white tach signal wire coming out of the oem ecu to trigger the MS to control the fuel? This would entail sharing all the inputs to keep the CEL happy but the outputs would only come from the MS box.

Last year I wired up a FAST box in a 96 impala SS this way and it seemed to work fine. It controlled the ignition as well but of course the 96 had the factory crank sensor on it where the 94-95 doesn't.

what good would that do? it does not delete opti. might as well spend a little over 100 and tune the stock ecu

i dont see why it wouldnt work. you will have a resistor inline with the MS. you dont want the MS to steal the tach wire.

If you delete the opti what would you use for a cam-position sensor?

Of course this may be my opinion, but the sensor part of the opti is pretty reliable and accurate. I have had the LTCC for the last three years and the last year was with the mega squirt system and I couldn't be happier. There is ALOT of wiring involved in order to get all the systems to work and have a couple of bell and whistles. That's what inspired me to build a ready to go system. It takes all the guess work out of it.
