Dtc codes

I recently bought a cable from ALDL for my 95 lt1. i downloaded the EE file from datamaster and tried logging some data... Couldn't get it to read the pcm..com port was fine just no sync with computer. Read up on this a little more still can't figure it out. I was able to see some dtc codes wich frankly frightened me a bit, i know this can't be normal its showing almost every code there is..11-16 21-27,29 32-34 36-38 41-46,48 50-53,55 61-69,71 77-79 80-87 95-98. i mean is my car fried? all i did to it was change the heads and put on headers and new o2s.

Re: Dtc codes

I would not trust the PCM operation if you voltage is 8V, need to fix that first. All DTC code boxes for you car ($EE definition file) should be green that indicates no problem. If a box is RED then the DTC is set. Grey in the box is N/A for your car.

Re: Dtc codes

Bob thank you for stepping in and clarifying the codes. that is good news to me. Its an on going problem since i changed the heads. with the alternator out of the car it starts no problem with a jump to the bracket...... alternator in reads bout 8,10volts could this be the regulator inside it? had it tested at autozone said it was working but to be honest the kid took 25 minutes just to hook it up, so not really trusting his test.

Re: Dtc codes

Make sure leads on battery to starter, ground terminal, ground to block and 12v stud on wheelwell are all clean and tight. Then charge the battery to +12 volts , install it, with key on - Engine off, check battery voltage it should stay at 12 volts , if OK then check the 'L' connector (top rear) of the alternator. It provides power to the voltage regulator in the alternator. It s/b 11-12 volts w/ignition on and is used to turn on the alternator. If that wire is OK, then start engine, battery voltage s/b 12.9-13.8 volts w/o any accessories or lights on. If not battery or alternator is bad.. Or you have a major short (very rare). If OK turn on blower to high and headlights on high beam voltage s/b 12.5 or higher if below 12 v alternator is not putting out enough current. This assumes you don't have underdrive pulleys installed..
