What would this run?

A guy I know says he has a 10s shavalle. Its got a 350 that spins 7,000 rpm ,ported 400 heads , big cam , a wieland intake , and a holley 850 dp, tubbed W/14 wide mt pros , skinnies up front , and a fiber glass front end. Th 400 trans manual valve body and a 4,000 rpm stall.
I know he has the car but I want to know if he is lieing.

weight of car,cam specs,what heads(more specific),rear gear. Thats a start....

I don't see a stock headed 355 pushing a heavy chevy in the 10's.
Unless its running a stout diet of go juice.

Ditto that. I'd have to see it go 10s to believe it.

There has gotta be a track in Florida. You won't know until you run it. The driver has much to do with how quick a car can run.

They'll want to know cam specs and exactly how ported those heads are ie. flow specs, valve sizes. Compression ratio and stuff like that helps too.

Back in the day there was a guy in my hometown with a street legal small block Nova that ran low tens and on occasion high nines. Other than the mini-tubs it looked fairly stock and harmless even down to the beige paint job and steel wheels.

If built correctly I'd say its possible, however, its been my experience that most guys who say they have 10 second street cars are b.s. artists.

I HAVE OWNED A COUPLE OF REALLY STOUT SMALL BLOCK CARS WEIGHING ABOUT THE SAME AS YOUR BUD'S CHEVELLE. EVEN WITH A HEAVILY TWEAKED SMALL BLOCK, RACE PORTED 202 HEADS, 600 LIFT ROLLER, 12.5;1 SLUGS, 3500 STALL TURBO 400, AND 488 12 BOLT, THE FASTEST THAT CAR WOULD RUN AT 3200 ABOVE SEA LEVEL WAS HIGH 11'S AND THAT WAS WHEN IT WAS WELL TUNED AND TWEAKED TO THE 9'S.

I DOUBT THAT VAGUE SOUNDING COMBO WOULD RUN IN THE 10'S UNLESS IT IS A 10K SMALL BLOCK ON A RACE PREPPED CHASSIS THAT IS SHAVED OF WEIGHT IN EVERY CORNER AND STICKING WITH 32" SLICKS AROUND A 4 LINK CHASSIS.

Those are just my thoughts, but they are accurate. (smiles)
