Powerglide to 700r4
 

I have a 67 camaro with a 327 and a powerglide but i would like to switch to a 700r4...what all is involved here what needs to be purchased? I dont know much about transmissions..Thanks

I'll take a stab at this.

Transmission, Torque converter, shifter, driveshaft (can have current one shortened), cross member (I think)

I think thats it, someone please add if I missed anything.

Another option is the 200R4 which I believe is the same length as the PG so no driveshaft shortening would be needed. The 700R4 would need something to control the lock up converter and a special bracket for the tv cable.

Just thought i'd chime in. i finished my swap in my 69
a month or so ago. 350/350th
to a 2004r. i bought my trans from the junkyard for $150. the 2004r in my car came from an delta 88 i think an 1985. they are elec.lock-up, but i just bought a non lock up 2400 stall and it works great. if you decide to rebuild the trans there are parts to add for longer life with the non lock up conv.my car has 14" wheels and a 3.55 gear, so 55 is about 2200, and 80 is about 2800. the trans works perfect i advise everyone to do it. i live near chicago and went to the east coast, 2600 miles in a week and had no problems at all. i bought a th400 crossmember,shift kit, trans cooler, you still have to install the tv line. but you dont need any wireing. good luck

I whoul put a stall converter behind that 327 you will need it
I put a 327 in a 3rd gen firebird and was slow as hell till
it hit about 1800-1900 rpm then all hell would brake loose
I didn't think a gm tach whould move that fast that car would
tear the tires off every gear but it needed that stall off the line

i would like to buy your powerglide. my wifes camaro, i took out the powerglide 25 years ago shes been pissed at me ever since. she wants it back. i like it with the 350 i put in it. so after all this time i guess its time to put it back like she wants. thanks , email me if you would like to sell it to me, makzm@aol.com
