Are you reading the code stamped into the block on the front pad by the cylinder head? If so, that sequence doesn't make sense. It should be something like 'T1107CGJ' and then maybe the car's partial VIN stamped up there as well. Are you sure it's a big block and not a small block? What's the casting # and casting date of the block? I found several CGJ and CJG if that's the code. I found CCA, CCC and TCC for engine codes, but no reference to just CC. Check the stamping again and get the casting information and that will help us figure it out.

well, it's DEFINITELY a big block, I've been around chevy motors for 20 years or so.
As far as the rest of the serial number, that's all I can get. The last C could even be an O, I'm not sure. It is worn off from that point on.
Trying to get a casting number, but it's nearly impossible to see since the wiper motor is right in the line of site.
I can get the one from the intake, but that will just tell me it's a big block, which I already know...

Just wanted to make sure it was a big block. Any chance it's CE at the beginning of the sequence? A CE block is an over the counter or warrany replacement and they get some strange codes stamped into them. The casting date will still help the most in trying to identify what year vehicle it came from. I'll check around some more. I think all big blocks came from the Tonawanda plant and should begine with a T.

ok, I pissed my self off, so by flashlight, I went out and yanked the distributor. I get the following casting number:
14015449
I have found 1401544 and that came back as 454 truck block
Also found 14015443 which showed a 87-90 4 bolt block, MK IV truck or motorhome
Also found 14015445 which showed 78-90 2 or 4 bolt
Intake manifold is 3883948 which shows either 396 L-35 or 427 L-36
This jive with what you guys have? anything more specific on the block number?
As a side note, I am grinning about it possibly being the larger rat ...

With that casting #, I would think it's probably a later 454 then. Don't pay much attention to the intake since they can be swapped around.
