ignition switch
do you have to jiggle the key to turn the key or after you've turned it to the start position? If its the later, the starter relay is either out of alignment or bad. Its located above the steering column and is activeted by a rod going to the ignition switch.
Sounds like the ignition switch is in need of adjusting its on the top of the column and like greg said is driven by a rod that is connected to the lock cylinder in the top of the column .. I would check the adjustment at the switch first and then if that is not it, it could be the cylinder actuator is warn and thats inside the column which would require dissasembly ...
I guess its all nomenclature. The key pushes a rod into the - I'm going to call it "ignition relay" the rod runs down the top of the steering column and the relay is mounted by two srews to the top of the column. the relay is about 1"x1"x4" and has some majors wires coming out of it on the pasenger side. I've replaced a few but only when the dash panel was out. They do go bad, especially on a big block or an engine with high compression thats hard to turn over.
