i just got a new camaro, tell me what you think!

its a 1981 z28 and its been garaged uncovered with no carb for 10 years and i just got it running today. the interior is shot and needs alot of work but the floorboards are absolute perfect condition and everything is perfect, the 305 started right up today but i have bigger plans for the car, this is one of my first posts and i love the website, but what engine do you guys think i should put in the car? i want alot of power and want to stick with the smallblocks, i was thinking of building a nice 355 or somthing, what do you think?

redneckgames 09-16-2009 08:00 AM

how much power do you want? what is your budget? what is your plan for the car? Daily driver? Weekend warrior?

post up some pics of the car.

why wont it let me post pics?

Use a place like photobucket to host your pics. Just open an account with them (free):

http://photobucket.com/

When you upload a pic, photobucket will automatically generate an IMG code. Copy/paste that code here and it will link the pics to your thread.

Set your account options on PB to private; default is public and will allow anyone to rummage around your pics once they get the url to any of your pics. Private will prevent that and still allow you to link pics to a post.

with some work it will be a nice car.

What are your plans for it? Daily driver, weekend warrior, pure race????

Looks like you have some work ahead of you. Good luck.

Good luck. I'd ask some of the guys on NastyZ for some tips. I'm over there with the same s/n. Your Z must be a california car as those were the only Z28s with a 305. But those guys know their 2nd gens inside and out.

That orangish-brown stuff bubbling thru the blue stuff on the floor is rust.

A stout 355 is always a good plan. Goodluck!

That looks like a fun project, good luck :thumb:

Looks like a nice project. In the interest of the maximum valuation in the future, it might be a good idea to leave the engine in it ( if it is original) as it is if possible. The matching number cars always demand the highest dollar from a true collector.

Love late second gens. I had an 81 and a 79. My favorite fbods.

ayers1967 12-29-2009 08:03 AM

The two tone paint looks like a RS to me . Not a Z28.

not really

well if you dont plan on selling it and you want to have your car pushin some decent power then might as well get somthing stronger.

Nice

I have a 2nd gen myself and love em. I have a set of flowtech shorty headers and a th400 trans the headers are new and the trans was pulled in favor of a th350. I was gonna do a z28 clone on my 73 but went back to the drawing board. th400 works fine just needs a new torque converter (i sold it =X) pm me and Ill hook you up wit a good price. and if your in Cali then we can arrange a pick up/drop off instead of paying for shipping. oh and definitely check out Nastyz28.com those guys know whats up with there 2nd gens.
