Is this a fair price?

I'm getting my 69 Camaro painted and some major body work done.

This is what I'm going to have done.

I'll deliver the car stripped of everything and ready for the body man to strip the paint. He's going to replace or repair...

The trunk pan, drivers-side floor pan, smooth out and repair the firewall and paint it the same as the car color, replace the panel behind the backwindow (where the trunk lid is anchored to, replace the passenger side rockerpanel, put in a patch panel on the driverside front panel, mini-tub the rearwheel wells two inches, install sub-frame connectors, body work and paint it base/clear coat in Cranberry red with black Z28 stripes buried in the clear...then give it back to me and I'll put it back together again.

He quoted me at $6500. Does anyone know of other restoration shops in North Carolina? Do you think this is a fair price...it seems to me that it's a pretty good deal for the amount of work that will have to be done.

thanks
Brian

It's BEYOND a great deal if the work is good. A mini-tub alone here is $3K (that's the best price!).

No joke! Man that sucks! I talked with a high end restoration shop there in Cali and they said 20k to 25k! I almost crapped my pants when I heard that. The cost of living is really high out there...as you probably know.

I was braced for 15k to 16k and when he said $6500 I wanted to say "IS THAT ALL!?!" But I didn't because I knew if I did he'd think I was made of money and stick me with extras along the way. Believe me...6500 is enough...considering what I paid for this car. I'm just hoping that Super Chevy Show gold class win will pay for at least half of that in the first year (really wishful thinking!).

yeah...that's a really good price for that work, as long as it's good.
