Electric Fans?
Electric Fans?
Right now in my '67 I've got some weak radiator, a flex fan, and no shroud. I thought about buying a shroud, but I eventually want to buy a new radiator and electric fans, so why not just get the electric fans now? Right now I'm running a ~300hp 350 in my car, but I'm in the process of rebuilding my good 327 and expect it to generate >450hp when finished. I've got some weak single core radiator in there now, which I'll replace when I drop the 327 in, but I want to strap some fans in now so I don't overheat on the way to work when I get stuck in traffic
Anybody have some suggestions on an electric fan setup? I want something that'll I'll be able to move to a fatter radiator in the near future and something that'll dissipate the heat the 327 will throw off, especially in Florida weather.

They just fit right into a GM car, huh? Do they come with thermostat controlled switches or do I have to put a toggle switch in my car? You know where I can pick up a set cheap? Junk yard probably?
you may have to "make em" fit the way you want, but they have worked great for me....(knock on wood)
If memory serves me right I just hook them up to a toggle switch or straight to the ignition....
Junk yard maybe...but from the dealer they are not THAT bad....
It's been awhile since I bought them so I forget....

There's no drawback to running the fans all the time? I guess if I was really picky I could buy the AutoZone-style thermostat switch for like a few bucks. What about the fan assembly off of a 4th gen Camaro? Do those fit?
I ended up buying from Summit a Perma-Cool 18" 2500cfm fan for $109. I also bought a 170 degree thermostat control and wiring kit for $19. After my drive home yesterday I had to do something. I got stuck in traffic again and hit 230 degrees! With my paper thin firewall I was dying in the car
