Decisions....
 

OK, as you can see in my sig, I've got a couple cars now. I'm trying to decide what to do. I really want the '73 running/driving so that I can be motivated about making it a nice pro-touring platform.

The '98 is nice, and can remain my daily driver.

The 91 is in overall poor condition. It needs paint, it needs the door hinges done (I have the parts), it needs a tranny (have a junk yard one), the a/c has some problems, driver seat worn, interior is rough...but it runs and drives fine.

The '73 is just a shell. The car is straight, doors open and close nice, posi rear end is already in place...but it also needs paint.

Being that the '91 and '73 need paint, I'd prefer to paint the '73. I'm considering making the '91 a donor vehicle for the '73. TPI 350/computer/wiring harness, etc can all come from the '91. The junkyard tranny can go in until the '91's tranny is built up. Then I could part out what is left of the 3rd gen (which is a lot).

Think I should do this, or fix the '91 and sell it - using the $$ for the '73 buildup directly? I guess the real question is whether the '91 is worth more in parts than as a whole car?

It's been my experience that rarely will you sell a car for more than you have in it. I'd go the donor route if you are wanting a TPI for your '73. If the seats are in decent shape, you could use them also. I've even seen the 3rd gen console worked into a 2nd gen before.

That TPI in the 73 would be nice. I would have liked to have gone that route in my 73, but i ran across a steal on a ZZ4 350. ($1500) Mine was just painted Monday and should be on the road in the next 2 weeks.

I would think, at least from my point of view, your gonna want something more than the TPI after the 73 is done. I would sell it all, use that money to get body, suspension and whatever u can get done, and then get a drivetrain that will give u the power you want:)

If you know the TPI 350 is running good, then go ahead and swap it into the 73. You can always add a supercharger to it later if you need more power. The TPI, OD trans and 3.73-4.10 gears would make the 73 a fun car and something different.

Well, I'm looking for maybe 11's and I think that a TPI 350 with the Holley Stealth Ram, some good heads, a decent cam and a fairly lightweight car will do it. If not I can always do a supercharger later on. Eventually this will be a spring/fall car with some 1/4 mile track time so it will usually run in cool air. Once done, it will be MOSTLY show but I want a little bit of balls to back it up. :D
