Casting numbers

Can you tell what model the engine is in my camaro by the casting numbers? If you can the numbers are 3970010 on the bellhousing flange and 9889888 under the valve cover. I cant find the engine number i looked at the front of the engine infront of the cylinder heads but i cant find it.

did you even try to look at the site I gave you earlier?????????

if you don't start using the info we give you, we will stop even trying to help you

last time I help

from here http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm

3970010....302.....69....4...Z-28 Camaro
3970010....327.....69....2...Trucks and industrial
3970010....350...69-80...2 or 4

that is one of the most common 350 casting #'s, you need the date code and suffix(from the pad on front) to narrow it down without tearing it apart and measuring the bore/stroke

and that head # makes no sence whatsoever

for the stamp # on the block, you looked on the machined pad in front of the pass side head, its above the water pump gasket surface, it might be dirty/rusty/painted, so you might need to take a wire brush to it

Re: Casting numbers

I just purchased a 73 Z28 and the date code and suffix just don't match up with the car. The guy that sold it to me says it is a Camaro motor but I keep coming up with a 92 pickup motor. The number is V1209TND. Suffix should be CLM.
