Carb Settings?

I just got my car out of the shop, brand new engine and I'm so happy its finally completed. Well sort of, I think it's burning rich(i could smell the gas on my arms as I got back into the house). I'm seeing black smoke puffing out the exhaust, and its leaving a wet black mark on the ground. My fuel Pressure is at 7 1/2 psi going into the carb.

My questions are: Is my carb fuel/air setting off? How do I fix it? Whats a good starting point for the carb? SHould I lower my pressure?

My Eng: chevy 355ci, LT4 hotcam kit, 200cc World Sportsman II heads, 1.5 Chevy Preformance Rockers, Road Demon Carburator, Be Cool Rad/electric Dual Fan kit.

Any help would be great thanks ahead

Experienced people do it by ear. They adjust the idle mixture screws till they achieve the fastest/smoothest idle. If you have a vacuum gauge.........hook it up to an intake vacuum port and adjust to acheive the max vacuum pressure. You might need a new / smaller power valve. That can cause a car to run rich at idle. Or you can be lazy like me and have your car strapped to a dyno to determine what your fuel ratio is throughout the curve and adjust that way and adjust to the specific area's
