Post Can I run '87-up comp lifters on a 400 SBC? Need help ASAP

Hi guys. I have a set of 888-16 Endura X solid roller lifters I can get, CompCams, that I would like to use in a 406 buildup. I think they have taller bodies to clear a '87-up block. Will they work on a 400 SBC block. I would love to use them if I can, just need to know if they will work. I think they should 'cause the early block is shorter, these can work on both, BUT I am not sure. I need help fast! Thanks.

I don't think they will interchange.

I kinda doubt it, but if you want to pursue it further then the first thing I'd do is see where the oil groove lines up relative to a stock early-style flat tappet lifter. If that lines up reasonably close then you MIGHT stand a chance.

Also, what method is used to prevent lifter rotation with these lifters? Does it use a GM-style "spider" or just some tie bars between adjacent lifters. Putting a "spider" in an early block is probably a lot of work if it can be done at all.

I think they will interchange, 'cause the oil lines look about the same height as a stock flat tappet, and it does not use stock GM spider, they are tied together, so you must install 2 at a time. The only difference is that the later blocks are taller height, so all they had to do is make the lifter top taller so that the locking pin will clear. I will try.
