? about shackle

I just put all new suspension on my 68 (mono-leafs). I want the back to set up about 1 to 2 inches higher. What is the best way to do this with out useing air shocks? If you say shackle extension will that effect the ride of the car?

Thanks,

My brother and I installed extended shackles on a 57 back when we were young and dumb. Felt like the Queen Mary going around a turn. Makes the rear suspension unstable as hell.

Shackles and the wedge for the springs(pinion angle). If you use poly bushings in the springs you won't have any suspension mushyness.

Well its too late now, but places like Year One carry modified mono-leafs that allow you to adjust the ride height (up or down) in 1/2 inch increments up to 2-inches.

This is much more desireable and doesn't sacrifice the ride quality.

An easy and fairly inexpensive way to raise the rear I found by accident is to get a set of South Side Machine Co. Lift Bars. They are pretty much just traction bars but when installed will raise the rear atleast 2". I got mine new from someone that decided to go with a tubbed rear but I believe that they can be had for around $130.

i have an 81z28 and i shackled it and used poly bushings...i also have air shocks on it and as far as i can tell it rides the same...but then again i havn't drivin it very much...i raised it 1 3/4 and figured
the air shocks might stablize it also
