69 camaro SS

I am looking at a 69 camaro that the owner claims is an SS. Does any one know if this trim tag is a true SS.

ST 69 12437 LOS179750
TR 727 69B PNT
11B J382
Thank you guys

The Los Angeles built Camaros don't have anything on the trim tag to show if the car is a real SS or not. But a lot of LA cars will have the broadcast sheet glued to the top of the gas tank so you can look for that. Look for the normal SS clues like PDB, SS hood with the correct # of coils on the hinges, dual exhaust, look to see if there are 2 fuel lines going back to the gas tank(unless it's a 396/375 engine). If the car has the original engine, then check the codes on it to verify if it's an SS as well.

Re: 69 camaro SS

ST 69 12437 LOS179750
TR 727 69B PNT
11B J382

12437 = sport cpe V8
LOS = LA 179750=sequence
trim 727= interior trin Ivory standard
69= lower Cortez silver b=black vinyl top
11=November B=second week

I can't find anything about J382

Correction, the 12437 on the trim tag does not indicate a V8 sport coupe. It just indicates a coupe, not conv. The 12437 as the beginning of the VIN will indicate it's a V8 coupe and a 12337 would indicate a 6 cyl coupe. This is a mistake a lot of people have been making over the years.

Sorry, I'm not trying to mislead anyone. One other question I have is, where is the protecto plate? is it an original engine.
