400 Small Block

I have a 1970 400 small block to cure all the oil leaks I am replacing all the seals on the lower end and as an added safety thing I want to replace the pan w/ a new one. Now the dealer hasn't a clue on something that old. What later pan will work?
My dipstick is on the left.
TIA

I think a 350 pan will fit, although in all the years I don't ever think I actually tried it. Dipsticks that go through the block are likewise not a problem from pan to pan. Even pans that didn't have a through-block dipstick have the little cut-outs for them down by the pan rail.

Believe it or not, not all 350 pans will fit a 400. You need to make sure the pan specifies that it is for a 400. I got one that said sbc 350 and the sales guy thought the same thing i did and said it should fit, but whn I went to put it on the holes did not line up. So I took it back and we found one in his catalog that specified sbc 350 and 400. I got that one from them and it fit fine.

By the way I have two oil pans for sale (both fit a 400) if you are still looking for one. I have a stock type pan and a milidon low profile 7qt pan.

Thanks for all the help guy's. Jason Cromer did a lot of research for me and is getting me a 400ci truck pan. It seems the car ones are no longer available from GM

If you cant find a pan I may have one that will work. I have 400 sbc pan that came out of a 76 Burban. Its not in the greatest shape(its been in minnesota). I can take a few pictures if your interested. Ill let you have it for 15 bucks plus actual shipping cost.

Let me know if your interested.

Sorry, but I want a new pan. This engine leaks oil from every possible place that it can. So I am resealing everything from top to bottom and using all new stuff, pan, valve covers, front cover, front seal and the rear main.
But I appreciate the offer, Thanks
