350 or 327
350 or 327
I'm buying a 1969 camaro from my girlfriends brother for a great price, the only problem is that it has an inline 6 in it. I plan to do an engine swap and i was wondering what would be better, a 350, or a 327?
Since it costs about the same to build either, might as well go for the bigger engine. I've run 327s, 350s, and now 400s. The torque of the longer stroke makes the engine feel stronger under peak hp. And welcome to the board.
327's are cool, I had one and it's a rev monster, but a 350 is the standard Chevy engine. Parts are cheap, available, and most things you buy are designed for it. Get a nice 4 bolt block and build a 383
what r u looking for out of the car? how much in drive train are u looking to spend?
I've run stock bottom end 305's and 307's with top end work that Ran awesome for daily drivers, and I felt different running something different then the main stream, something more classic/ orignal

327's are a blast if you are running a 4-speed behind them with a good gear , thats where they really shine, they are like a 2-stroke dirt bike with a power band you need to get the rpm's up and keep the rpm's up in the power band as you shift and you can't ask for much better street strip fun ride plus they do get better gas milage for the most part than any 350 + ci. when you are crusing holding the rpm steady, I use to own a 65 corvette with the 327-350 hp motor I put a z-28 intake and a 600 holley on it the car had 411 rear gears and it was a 4-speed the car was so much fun to drive and I could drive it to work round trip about 90 miles and get around 18 + miles to the gallon, and when you wanted to get down and have some fun you got the rpm up like you were at the dragstrip and let her rip bark the tires when you shift and hang on what a blast, it's all in your combanation of your parts not nessasarily your ci., the 302ci Z-28 4-speed had the same stroke as a 283 but the same bore as a 327 & 350 did and was even more fun to drive . Its like owning a Harley Davidson If I have to explain it you wouldn't understand until you experienced it .
