I just picked up a small journal forged 302 crank outta a 68 302 for $125, I don`t know if it`s outta a DZ block though??

All I need to do is polish it, Are these cranks rare?? and is it worth much after I polish it?? I picked it up since it was pretty cheap and I`d like to build a 302 I guess all I need to do is find a small journal 302 or 327 Block, did 350`s come with small journals?? and crap these forged cranks are HEAVY!! :eek:

DZs were for 69 and large journal. 68 also has large journal, 67s had small. Same crank for 68-69 no matter what code 302. If it's gennie, it's worth money to some one who wants a correct crank for a resto. Research Ebay for selling prices. A lot of "302 cranks" I've seen for sale are actually 283 cranks. These are forged steel if small journal and look just like 302 cranks but have a perfectly round flange. 302s have a pie shaped cut out of a round flange.

hey thanx for the info, I checked my cranks flange where the flywheel bolts right? and it`s round with a pie shape cut outta it, so it`s gotta be real right, so this is a 67 crank then?

I found the number 6764 on the side of the front rod journal

Yup, where the flywheel bolts on.

There are 6764 cranks that are out of 283s, but they are cast. Thin parting line, about 1/16th. Forged have a wide parting line, about 3/8".

67 was the year of lowest Z28 production. I think 602 were made. If you can verify it's a 67 Z28 crank, it's probably worth your left one. You could sell it and use the proceeds to build a 383 or 400. Unless you have your heart set on a 302. But if you ride in a 302 Z28, you won't be impressed. They are quick (low 14's quick if in good tune), but they have no torque. Big engines plaster you to the seat right from off idle.

I checked the Crank and it is forged with the 3/8 line and it`s heavy as hell, the only number I can find is 6467, and it dose have the pie shape cut on the flange oh and I put it in my 350 block and it dose not fit so it is a small journal, so there where no small journal cranks in 68 right?
