68rs/28 value ?

Hi folks. I'm new to the board but have been in and out of camros since 70. owned more than a dozen and the times were definitely the best.

I have two left and circumstances say it's time to downsize.

I have a 68rs/z28 origional with the exception it has no smog pump. The car does need reassembled but all parts are there. It needs new quarter panels.

My question is can someone give me a starting point as to the what the value of the car maybe?

Thanks for looking.

Re: 68rs/28 value ?

I spent many years restoring a late build Norwood 68 RS Z/28 like your car that needed quarters and a lot of new parts. I did the restoration largely with NOS parts and it reflected when completed. No smog pump is not that big of a deal; smog pumps, diverter valves and related hardware can be found relatively easily. Are the original exhaust manifolds there? Where 68 Z's get expensive to restore is when things like the original dated components (i.e. carb, alternator, starter, water pump, intake, heads, etc.) are not there. A properly dated alternator can run $1000-2000 dollars depending on when your car was built. DF rally's; it appears the front wheels are 15x6 but the rears are aftermarket. Do you have all 5 matching DF rally 15x6 wheels? What about a protecto-plate documenting the car? I've watched the 68 Z market for over 20 years and assuming the trans, rear end, and engine are correct and matching could fetch upwards of $20K. It does take the right buyer though and this is more of challenge. I paid $5200 for mine in the same condition as yours back in 1992.

Re: 68rs/28 value ?

dz28lalonde thanks for the reply. I have 3 of 5 original rallys. The rest of the car is all original. 5200.00-20,000 is a broad range. Thanks.

Any other opinions on value, all info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Nunya1

Re: 68rs/28 value ?

Keep in mind I found my car in 1992. Your car is worth closer to $20K but then it takes someone that is willing to take it to a high level and has another $80-100K for restoration costs! Best of luck, wish I had the time and resources to restore another one...
