Is it worth the money

I have a Alpine CDA-7897 cd player I bought new back in 2002 for $600. It needs a new laser (i think). Is it worth the money to send it to Alpine and have it fixed?

That all depends on what it costs to have the laser replaced. Did they give you an estimate?

I'd confirm it is something they can still fix since it has been over a year. If I were you, I'd take a look at some of the head units on the market right now. Compare them to the price you're going to pay for the repair + shipping.

If it were me, I'd probably just replace it with something new.
