Using Alpine HU with monsoon system?

Im looking at this head unit right now. I talked to the install gyu and he said he can wire in the Alpine unit with the stock monsoon amp so I dont lose sound quality, but what im wondering is, has anyone done this before with an aftermarket head unit? Does it still sound good?

Yes, it's been done thousands of times by others. It will sound OK at best. Certainly no worse than the POS Monsoon sounds already. Every piece of the Monsoon system is a distortion generating piece of garbage. Until you replace every last part of it your sound will never be as good as it could be.

Do everything you can to make that Alpine deck sound good. When I first got my 7893 (Basically same deck, but with internal amp and no MP3) I thought the factory speakers would be good enough. Nay! They can't produce the quality that even the most basic aftermarket speaker can. I put in some Pioneers in all 4 corners, and it sounds great.

The rear speakers in my vert, from factory, were 10ohms each! That means that my deck was pumping out 60 watts @ 4 ohms, but because of the ohm load on the speakers, they were only getting 24 watts.
