Stock Alarm bypass???

I just got an alarm that has built in remote start and NOONE in this pohdunk area will install it unless I bought it from them. I found someone who will do it but he says I need to purchase an alarm bypass in order to hook it up. Anyone know anything about this and where or how I can do this??? thanks

if theyre reffering to bypassin the key pellet... then either you can buy a bypass box from ebay... or if you wanna save money you can do it yourself by buying a $1.00 resistor

heres the site on how to do it yourself http://shbox.com/1/vats_bypass.jpg

Well I'm hearing something about a VATS???? Since the alarm also has a remote start built in. Does that change anything at all? There is a guy on ebay selling this stuff for like 40 bucks but I'd like to stay away from that if I can just do this whole resistor thing.

Re: Stock Alarm bypass???

you will need to bypass the VATS in order for the remote start to work. Like said previosly you can purchase a VATS module that has all 13 values built in to where you just select the proper VATS resistor value. Or you just measure the Ohm reading off the chip in you key and get a resistor to match usually has to be +/- 5 % i believe. Then you will need to wire that into the VATS system using a relay. I done this on my 90 firebird. pretty easy to do the bypass.

By the way what kind of alarm is it? if its a DEI alarm it will have instructions on bypassing the vats system. Otherwise check out www.the12volt.com they got tons of info/diagrams to look at + a good forum
