Speaker size? 6.5 or 6.75 or does it matter?
Speaker size? 6.5 or 6.75 or does it matter?
I have been searching the boards and see a lot of you are using 6.5” speakers and some are using 6.75” speakers. I am under the impression the stock size is 6.75. If that is true does a 6.5” fit without modification?
I want to use the Kappa 6.75” inch in my 94 and was just checking if I am getting the correct speaker size. I do not want to cut anything to make them fit.
Sorry to ask such a lame question.

If your car was meant to have oversized 6.5" (6.75") speakers there will be no modifications needed. Most speakers these days have universal mounting holes that allow them to be bolted to 6.5" or 6.75" openings. A true 6.5" speaker will need an adapter plate to mount it in a 6.75" speaker's mounting hole.
heh.. just to let you know... i thought "it didnt matter either"

Your car comes stock with 6.75" (oversized 6.5). If you put another oversized 6 1/2 in there the screw holes will line up perfect. If you try to put a standard 6.5" in there it will work. All you got to do is drill new holes because it won't line up with all the factory screw holes. It's nothing to it.
