Speaker depth?

I have a 95 formula with the stock stereo system. (not monsoon) I'm going to do a complete tear down, rewire, and rebuild of the system. I have a high end set of Eclipse 6.5'' components with external crossovers and tweeters.. My question has to do with the maximum depth of the door speaker locations.. The basket is much larger than most door speakers and is 3.5 inches deep. I intended on installing this set in my old Jeep Grand Cherokee but they were too deep for the door's stock location. Does anyone know if they'll fit so i can get a backup plan and avoid having to tear down twice? Has anyone run onto a set of speakers that were too deep? If so, If i find a set of door panels with the monsoon pods, will that give me extra room or not? THANKS!

What Eclipse model? I had a pair of top of the line eclipses in my Firebird doors and they fit just fine. I had to fabricate some spaces during my Grand Cherokee install of Hertz HV 165L , which has the same as eclipses depth.
Edit: long day at work...
