Remote start

Where is the best place to get one? What brand? How much?
If I leave the ventilation controls set on the AC.........when I use the remote start to start the car, will the AC turn on to cool off the car? Or will I have to buy a more expensive kit that includes actuators for the AC controls?

which one do you guys use?

how much is it to get it installed?

On a side note, my car sometimes takes two tries to start the car. On the remote, do you press and hold the button until it starts, or do you just press the button, and it turns until the car starts? If it is the second one.......i'm worried about it burning out my starter. Please help.

I have the Viper 550 ESP. It's an older model alarm with remote start included. It cost me $150 shipped off eBay. I installed it myself and it works GREAT! I got quoted $550 from my local alarm/audio shop for the EXACT same alarm. When you start your car using the remote start feature, the AC will turn on IF you left it on previously. So if you know you're gonna be parking the car out in the sun all day, set the AC to 'high' before you leave your car, so it will be on full blast when you remote start it. As for the process by which the remote starter starts the car....you can either set the alarm to crank the starter for a set amount of time (I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS)...OR you can connect an additional wire from the alarm to the PCM, so the alarm will read the tach signal. I highly recommend having the alarm use the PCM to determine the tach signal in order to start the car. After fiddling around with the settings a bit, my car starts PERFECTLY all the time, and NEVER overcranks the starter. If you have never installed an alarm before, I suggest you read Brent's webpage about the installation procedure. It WILL save you a lot of time, because when you order ANY alarm it WILL NOT have instructions included, only simple wiring charts! Installing my Viper 550 ESP took a while, but it was an awesome learning experience!

what do you mean connect it to the PCM, so you press the button and the PCM determines how long to crank it for? Do you have a link to the install page?

Why does your car take 2 tries to start it? I'd get that fixed before I'd get remote start.

most alarms you can adjust crank time, rpm threshold, or you can switch from tach signal to voltage sense (meaning instead of using the tach signal for remote start you would use a injector signal. some say using the voltage sense is better than tach signal.

don't know. It's intermittent. Sometimes it starts instantly, sometimes it takes twice.

This is starting to sound like more of a professional installation.
