seems like once you drain it down alot one time it will never fully go back up again.

I have had good and bad luck with them, I have one I bought in 99 that still works everyday. But more recent ones I have bought have failed.

optimas

I had two red tops with the factory battery to run my old stereo that would draw upto 280 amps between 7 amplifiers, an eq, x-over, and receiver that lasted 12 years before I sold the stereo and gave one to my buddy for his race car. It lasted half a season running 2 tracks and other specials before he decided it wasn't holding enough charge for him. The key factor with the optima is to trickle carge it. I've heard of them going through 70-80 cycles before giving up. For some reason they just don't hold up to rapid chages. jmho.
