jl w7 12
Re: jl w7 12
that's the problem with that subwoofer, it requires a decent sized box. I would just go with a sealed box, and build it to the volume you need. Speakers are fairly forgiving in sealed enclosures.

I was saying to make the box to fit your car, but make it reasonably sized; then just measure the box and calculate the volume from the measurements.
Subwoofers can operate fairly well in a wide range of sealed enclosures and still sound good; if you are building a ported box, well that's another story. For a 1st timer, I'd recommend just going with a sealed enclosure.
What type of enclosure are you going to be building? A "Stealth" style? something for the well in the hatch, or just a box to put in the hatch?

The easiest thing for you; although probably not the cheapest but would give you the best results; would be to contact Megabass on here, he owns/runs www.subthump.com and can very easieally build you one of his well boxes that is customized for the heavy/powerful W7.
This would be my suggestion; mainly because it'll probably sound the best. Building enclosures for that breed of "super" subs as they are known is not as easy as most enclosures.
But if you want to build one yourself that's fine, but I would defenetly build some sort of support for the driver itself (I know those are heavy speakers) and make the box double thick (2 walls of 3/4" MDF glued together).
