Finally got it all together and installing this week. For my highs and sub. I bought a Kicker 550.3. It's a 3 channel amp. Specs say 40x2 up front 200 watts on the sub chanell at 4 ohm mono or 75x2 up front 400 watts sub channel. Anyways, I got it today and the amps berth certificate says 790 watts. That's damn good. I guess I am getting around 200 watts on the front and 550-590 on the sub. Not too shabby.Anyways, I'm going to run 1 KIcker comp vr 12 ported. I was told that would actually hit harder than 2 12s sealed. So I am going with that. I'm running some Pioneer 4 ways for my highs and my deck is a Pioneer deh 7400.
I didn't think that amp would be that big. But it's huge and pretty heavy. Looks good. Does my setup seem sound?

Oh, got the amp for $300 free shipping from etronics, the highs were $110. Getting the sub for $79 and my deck was $239.

 

setup sounds good. As long as you like the parts that you have chosen, you should be good to go. As for if the single 12 will hit harder, it all depends on the setup. With the proper airspace and the correct tuning of the box to the resonant frequency of the car, it should hit pretty loud. With a single 12, you should be able to provide a bigger air space for the sub.

 

It should be done in the morning. They are building me a ported box withamp rack included for only $100. Not too bad and he says he promises this sub will jam witht he box he is building. He has had plenty of experiences fixing up boxs for Camaros. Can't wait to hear it.

Well guys. It totally slams. Awesome! The highs scream. The bass slams and only from 1 ported 12. I will take some pics soon and perhaps someone can upload them for me.
