How does this setup look?

I'm looking for oppinions on how this setup looks

Basically the Speakers can handle 60 Watts RMS while the Hatch speakers handle 120 Watts RMS and the Amp I'm looking at produces 100 Watts X 4 Channles

I was thinking of splitting the wire per channle to each front speaker - that would produce 50 Watts per speaker correct? 2 speakers per channle? this way the front's will only use two channles and the hatch speakers will recieve 100 Watts RMS, close to their 120 Watt rating...

Here's a picture...

hatch speakers are initially 4" round from factory -- you don't want the most power going to them. The fronts should be the most powerful and set your stage -- though personal preferences differ and some may want speakers all around them -- you definitely don't want your hatch getting the most power. Wiring anyway you wish is fine -- just realize you lose some individual control over each speaker -- ex: fading.

One other question... Is more power always better? Or will it take more power to get the same volume out of that speaker?

For instance - Will it take more power for a 120 Watt RMS speaker to pulse the same volume as it would a 60 Watt RMS speaker? or will a 120 Watt RMS speaker be twice as loud as a 60 Watt speaker?

Also am I looking for component speakers or does it matter what kind?

And finally, are the rear hatch speakers 4"x6" ? Mine certainly arn't round - they're oval...

Thanks...

Pls. just forget about hatch speakers. You won't hear them!!! Connect 2 channels of your amp to front components and 2 other - to coaxials in sail panels. Put a 4-wire RCA from HU to amp so you can do fading from HU. It will sound great, to make it even better - add a sub amp and a sub in stealth enclosure or whatever.
To your question: Speaker efficiency and crossover losses are not related to rated power. 60RMS from midrange/tweet is painfully loud.

Just out of curiosity, whats wrong with the 6x9's? same as the 4" - won't hear them or what?

If the 4 speaker setup isn't loud enough - is there any way I can get smaller subs or larger speakers but have them hidden somewhere in the car? - I'd like to keep my T-top space but at the same time I don't need everyone knowing I have a grand invested in sound equipment everytime I park.. if you get my drift...

What do you mean? subs so that sails can become full range? ...people aren't telling you to avoid hatch speakers because it wont be loud enough -- you don't want the hatch speakers to be heard strongly

Oh, I didn't realize... ...I'll probably just start with a 4 speaker setup with an amp and see how it works out from there...

good idea -- start small and build off it if you aren't happy for some reason

they make a stealth box for that reason, jl makes one that comes with a 10w3 i believe and there is one by subthump.com, and probox. the boxes have roughly .6 cubic feet. problem solved
