How do I get loud crisp clean sound?

Hey guys. Im in the market for speakers. I'm not into having a thumping sterio. I just want it crisp, clear and loud. I dont want to spend 400.00 either. Im getting a pioneer headunit that's 50w x 4. And I have a Pioneer 250watt 2 channel amp and a 12" Pioneer sub. What do you suggest for my door, sail panel and hatch speakers? Should I go pioneer all the way around? They have 4ways but I heard they are too high pitched. Thanks for your help!

Alpine are great! If you want the best sound quality and a stylish head unit...buy the Alpine head unit Model CDA-9883. $200 at Best Buy. This is probably the best car stereo ever made...lol My Z28 has the Monsoon speaker design and it sounds AMAZING. I didn't bother changing my stock speakers because this Alpine brought them to life. Really does sound great. Give you all the treble you can stand and brings out a nice thump if you want it to.
I had a 94' v6 Camaro and I had an Alpine in there too. Very nice

I will have to trust your opinion because I dont know jack about car sterios. Right now my car has a pioneer headunit, but its old and messed up. I just bought the car a few months ago so Im getting her up to speed. I will have a 12" sub so I just need to know what kind of speakers I should put in. I was going to go buy 4ways but then I heard they are loud and high pitched. I have heard ppl talk about "mids" and "2ways" and "coaxils" but I dont know what all that stuff means.

Help a girl out!

are you going to keep the headunit you have or get a new one?

4 alpine type R speakers would run you a little over $200
then I would get a nice 4 channel amp and then you would have nice LOUD sound

Guess I should have been more clear. Im getting a new head unit. Something under 200.00 and then I need speakers around 200.00. So I can spend around 400.00 total. I have an amp and sub. Im going to stick with those because I had it in my old car and they worked great. Are you saying I will need one amp for my speakers and one for my sub?

Does it have red lumination around the dial? Or can you change it to blue? I looked it up online and it says blue illumination, but all the pics show that it also has red. Just curious if it had a color change setting.

You will get the best sound from the Alpine head unit and speakers. This will help your 12" Pioneer sub as well. The head unit equalizer is fully customizable and you will be able to tune it right in. And you can hook an iPod up to it...thats a pretty nice feature. I had two 12" MTX subs and a 1200 watt amp in my 94'. It sounded great. As far as "Mids" "2ways" and "coaxils" that stuff isn't all that important. Just complicated terms that basically mean we all play different tones at different rates. I would go to Best Buy and get the Alpine stereo and buy 4 Alpine 5.5" speakers. I believe for that price they will install it all for free. All said and done you might have about $350 - $400 but you will have a kick a** stereo...that I will be very jealous of

I wouldn't trust his opinion entirely - especially because it's that...an opinion. Calling that unit the best stereo ever made was likely sarcasm - because it definitely is NOT the best.

You want loud, and clear - you are probably best off focusing on front speakers only and amping them. That 2ch you have would work nice for front components, then buy a new amnp for the sub -- or keep the 2ch for the sub, and use a new one for front speakers. Play with your options, see what works out better as far as price and power output/handling for each.

You won't need an amp for the 5.5 inch speakers that go in the doors and hatch. The head unit will take care of that

That particular model is the exact same as I have...and you can't change the illumination color. It is Red around the volume dial, the six buttons are blue, and the preset buttons are red. Looks pretty sweet at night. I'm not sure why those models don't have the option to change the colors. The Alpine I bought for my 94' when I got it in 2005 had that option...wierd

No sarcasm in my posts...Alpine simply makes a GREAT stereo. A joke yes...it's probably not the best EVER made...but you can't beat it for the price, the performance, and the options. Look it up Alpine CDA-9883 The best sound will come by doing what I suggested...4 Alpine speakers with this headunit. Hook up the sub and the amp. I know what it will sound like and it will be GREAT

Well I will probably stick with "yuggin's" opinion on the Alpine because almost every post I read says nothing but good things about Alpine. And I looked up the specs on that model and it has everything I wanted my stereo to have. Bluetooth, XM ready, HD, pre outs, Ipod control etc. Unless I can find a better model in that price range I might stick with that model. Now for the speakers, Alpine Type R? for all 4? My speaker holes are 6.5 like all camaros. I was also thinking of getting the door panel dynomat kit. I know, I know.. Thought I wasnt into stereos.. LOL Im not, I just want it to sound good, and not like someone yelling through a tin can like it does now.

BTW thanks again. I really appreciate it.

If you really want LOUD, your going to need to power the main speakers via an amp. Crisp is also better achieved via an external amp as well.

I didn't look up the Head Unit being discussed, but Alpine is fine for the price, so that shouldn't be an issue.

You really should think about upping your price range to accomodate an amp and better cabin speakers. Many folks get excellent sound out of only the front Door Speakers, so spend $200 - $300 on Excellent Speakers there and another ~$100 or so on an amp to power them.

I have US Acoustics Amps, and Infinity Speakers. If I was to do it again, I think I would go with Boston Acoustics for speakers, but I really like my US Acoustics Amps. I have also heard good things about MB Quart Speakers.... The amps you can find on E-Bay (~$100, for 85 x4 (Bridged for now, if you want 4 channels later)), speakers you probably can search the many online sites for a great deal.
