Help Please

I have a 97 z28 with the 6 speaker delco system and 12 disc changer. I bought 2 sets of Poineer 6 1/2" 4 way speakers. I installed them next to the back seats, but the only play bass. No mid or treble at all. Is there any way to correct this?

4-ways? YIKES!!!

I don't know about your '97 but if it's set up like a POS Monsoon system then the B-pillar speakers are factory subwoofers and they will only reproduce bass.

I don't know if they were only producing bass beforehand. There's an amp (i think) behind the spare tire if that helps any.

I'd say it's a safe bet that they were subwoofers.

monsoon amp behind spare tire, those speakers only play bass. to fix it, you will need to rewire past the amp in order to get full range speakers and change the headunit. or take the wires controling the rear 4 inches and connect to that in order to get mids and highs. say goodbye to your bass if you do that though, unless you add a stealth box or something to fill.

I believe that should say "before" the amp and not "past" it since the crossover is built into the amp. A full range signal goes into the amp and is then low passed and then sent to the speakers.

That and I don't think we are talking about a Monsoon system here. Either way the signal should get tapped into between the HU and amp somewhere.

yeah you want to wire past the amp: meaning you want to cut the amp out of the line.

B-Pillar Replacements

I have a related question:

I have a 97 Formula with the 10 speaker system, single CD
I keep blowing out the b-pillar subs, I don't want to replace my whole sound system, so what speakers would work better than dealer parts without any modification?
