Hatch speakers in a non-hatch speaker car

Ive noticed the later model camaros/trans ams come with two speakers, i believ 6x9s in the hatch, one on each side, while the early models only came with the one 6.5" speaker on the drivers side, if i were to get the panels and some 6x9s how would you guys recomend i hook these speakers up to my headunit? hook them up to an external amp and run them that way, then keep the front two sets run of the head unit? or idk, just throwing idea out there. if anyones done this some pics would be cool.

you would need an amp like you said but they arent 6x9. the grill cover is about that size but the speaker is like a 4" with a tweeter next to it and there is next to no depth so your options are severly limited.
