Bridging components
THD and SNR are definitely things to think about when going down to 2 ohms. Maybe I didn't read the whole post, but I don't know why you would want 2 component sets running. It's really not going to be much louder at all, because each set is getting 1/2 the power it would normally be getting.

Focals kick ***! So much cleaner and flatter than MB Quarts. I think I have seen components bridged like that, but you would most probably get much cleaner sound by going to a truly bi-ampable speaker. Also, Focals kick ***! If you can't afford those, my Alpine Type-X components are some of the best made, and can be bi-amped. They're really flat-sounding though, so if you're going for a "bright" sound, stick to MBQ.
